Learning theories and learning styles

Learning means to grab information to build up knowledge. It’s not online facts we learn, but we build up motor skills and attitudes. Some of the traditional learning theories do not cover all the competencies we build up. Learning “happens”, we learn in formal and informal ways and settings. This infographic shows in a very dense way the different learning theories, their benefits and problems and, furthermore, names another approach with different methods and strategies that reflect the modern classroom.

There’s even a second article – or more precisely: a blog post – that hit me today: What about forgetting about the traditional learning styles? Are these learning styles still up-to-date? Do we stick to outdated theories and concepts? Annie Murphy Paul tries to change our mind and names three different (not new!) types of learners to consider… And there's a second article refering to Howar Gardner that helps us in overcoming the idea of learning styles.
